The spherical shapes of the sculptured flower heads give the garden a lift in May and June with an abundance of purple, white and pink indicating that summer is soon to arrive. Who would guess that Alliums are close relations to the onion family?
We have an excellent selection of formal and informal varieties. From the shorter types like the Allium Karataviense, perfect for tubs and pots to the tall elegant types such as Purple Sensation and Gladiator, which will look wonderful planted in amongst your perennials. They can also be used for long-lasting cut flowers.
Alliums prefer a sunny spot with well-drained soil. If your soil is heavy, a handful of coarse sand in the planting hole may be of benefit.
