Allium Schoenoprasum Forescate

If you grow your own herbs you have probably observed that adding chive stems and flowers is such an easy way to add flavour and decoration to a simple salad. Allium schoenoprasum, also known as Giant Chives, growing 30 – 40cm, are new to our allium bulb collection this year and will look fine in your herb garden as well as the border.

“Schoenoprasum” may be a bit of a mouthful but as the foliage and flowers are edible, it is literally true not only for us, but also for bees who will come and forage amongst the pretty round purple-red heads.
