Plant level with the surface in a cool shady position with leafmold, sand and soil. Keep moist but not water logged. Once flowered the bulb will produce offsets that take another 3-4 years to flower. Protect from frosts with mulch or straw.
Keep your eyes peeled for lily beetle to keep the large glossy leaves looking their best.
