Coreopsis can be either a perennial or an annual plant. We provide them as annuals in 3x 9cm pots. They are a good border filler and work well with other herbaceous perennials.
Tickseed as they are commonly known are mostly yellow. Coreopsis have a fan of petals with a slightly serrated edge. The flowers will continue to appear from June to October, keep cutting away dead foliage and new growth will appear. It is a perfect summer plant to give lots of colour through the summer months.
They are easy to care for although as young plants they can be eaten by slugs. Once established they are quite a tough plant.
Originating from North America Coreopsis prefer full sun or light shade. They will cope in drier conditions but still like a good watering.
The seed heads will provide food for birds. They are also easy to propergate from seed. Collect the seeds in Autumn and plant in early spring. (Again watch out for slugs). You can also divide the root stock of coreopsis in early spring too.
Cut the dead foliage down in winter for the new growth the following year,
