Aquilegia vulgaris Nora Barlow – fully double flowerheads comprising masses of small pink and white petals. Double variety of cottage garden favourite ‘Granny’s Bonnet’ or ‘Columbine’. Bright, double nodding flowers float over attractive light to mid-green foliage from late spring to mid-summer. Aquilegias fill the seasonal gap between the last of the spring bulbs and the main flush of summer perennials. Aquilegia are easy to grow and self-seed.

They are clump forming and grow up to 80cm tall.

Growing Aquilegia Vulgaris

Plant this fully hardy herbaceous perennial in full sun to partial shade in fertile, moist, well-drained soil.

Deadhead to prolong flowering. Lift and divide large clumps in early spring every three to five years and apply a generous mulch (2-3in) of well-rotted manure or garden compost around the plant.
