How to grow and care for your Buddleia Flower Power

Choose a spot in your garden that receives full sun, as ample sunlight is crucial for a prolific bloom. This plant isn’t all that picky, but prefers well-drained soil. You could add some organic matter to your planting area to enrich the soil and promote healthy growth.

Plant your buddleia in early spring. Dig a hole twice the width of the root ball and the same depth. Gently place your plant in and backfill with soil, watering thoroughly. Ideally regular watering is needed during the first growing season to establish a good strong root system. Once established, buddleias are drought-tolerant but will benefit from an occasional deep watering during any prolonged dry spells.

Cut back in late winter or early spring before the new growth emerges to encourage a vigorous bloom and maintain your desired shape.

Where to grow your Buddleia

The Buddleia Flower Power will thrive in a variety of settings, each amplifying its unique qualities.

Transforming city spaces into pollinator-friendly areas. Its adaptability makes it suitable for small city plots, bringing life and fabulous colour to urban environments. This buddleia complements the charm of cottage gardens. They are very tolerant of salt and wind, an excellent choice for coastal gardens, offering resilience where other plants might well falter. Also, this plant can create a haven for wildlife, where the nectar-rich blooms become a focal point for beneficial insects and birds. Amongst other perennials and shrubs, your buddleia will stand out, offering height and a contrast of colours that can enliven your border design.

An ideal spot is one where Buddleia Flower Power can soak up the sun while contributing to the biodiversity of the area, enhancing both aesthetics and the local ecosystem.
