Camassia suksdorfii leichtlinii Alba are a late spring flower and typically flower in June along with early alliums and iris. They will be in flower for a couple of weeks and are a great interim flower between spring and summer. Interplant with Camassia ‘Cusickii’ for a stunning effect or try with Narcissus ‘Pheasant Eye’. How to plant.

Plant in autumn, any time between September and December.  They are a moderately hardy bulb and will tolerate cold temperatures, but you might want to cover them over with mulch to protect from the hardest of frosts. They will grow in most soil types. They would preferably like rich slightly acidic soil that holds moisture well. They won’t like drying out too quickly.

Plant Camassia suksdorfii leichtlinii Alba in either full sun or semi shade. They will perform much better in the sun, but even in the semi shade they will be able to flower well and reflower each year.

Camassia originate from North America, often growing in damp meadows or along rivers. The bulbs were once used as a food source. Although we don’t recommend eating these cultivated bulbs.

They look fantastic growing in long grass or wild flower areas. Equally they provide height and long lasting colour in garden beds too. 2 packs of 10 will fill a square metre, plant 15 cm deep. They are quite a large plant and very effective when given lots of space. Either dotted along a bed or randomly growing in a wild flower patch.
