More Information

Eranthis hyemalis Winter Aconite – Golden yellow flowers, flowering slightly earlier than cilicica. One of the first annual splashes of colour to emerge announcing spring is on the way! They create good ground coverage.

Winter Aconite thrive in woodland and shady areas. This perennial is a member of the buttercup family, and grows to just 10cm tall, with bright yellow, cup-shaped flowers.  They are a good partner to the snowdrop.

Planting Winter Aconite Bulbs

Aconite bulbs are small, so it’s easy for them to dry out in hot, dry conditions. Winter aconite bulbs can be planted in a sunny position or in the dappled shade of deciduous trees. They thrive in moist, well drained soil that is rich in organic matter. Aconite bulbs should be planted at a depth of 5cm and about 5cm apart. For natural looking drifts, gently throw the bulbs across your intended planting area and plant them where they land!
