More Information

Eremurus Cleopatra (Foxtail Lily) – has magnificent spikes of orange with a dark red vein.

Eremurus are a large, hardy plant that’s commonly known as the ‘Foxtail Lily’ or ‘Desert Candle’. They produce a tall stem (shoulder-high and above), displaying upright spikes of starry flowers, which gradually open throughout their flowering period of late May to July.

Planting and caring for Eremurus bulbs

Eremurus bulbs are hardy, they need a cold spell to initiate flowering later in the year, but they do need some protection from frost and shelter from wind. Plant them from mid-August through to as late as December, around 15-20cm deep and a similar distance apart. Ensure that roots point downwards and any shoots are directed upwards. During the Summer flowering months, they need lots of sun and good drainage as they are native to dry semi-desert grasslands.
