More Information
Hypericum Calcynium, also known as St. John’s Wort, is a perennial plant native to southeastern Europe and western Asia. Soft green foliage with bright yellow buttercup like flowers appear in abundance.
It can be grown in partial shade or full sun, with moist soil ideal for healthy growth. When caring for Hypericum, it is important to provide plenty of water during periods of drought and ensure that excess moisture does not remain in the soil for long. This will help prevent root rot from developing.
Mulching around the base of the plant can help retain moisture levels. Pruning should occur in early spring or summer; deadheads should be removed regularly to encourage new blooms throughout the season. Pests such as slugs may occasionally become an issue, but can easily be managed with natural repellents or traps.
Overall, Hypericum Calcynium is an easy-to-care for perennial that adds a burst of colour and texture to any garden. They can be toxic if ingested.
