Liatris spicata; the brush like spikes growing to over half a metre with thin spikey foliage. Flowering from August to September these Liatris are very easy to grow when planted in full sun. The perfect flower to draw in butterflies and bees.
A perennial flowering plant that produces spikes of pink flowers in the summer. It is native to parts of the United States, Canada, and Mexico, and grows best in areas with full sun and well-drained soil.
To grow Liatris spicata successfully, it’s important to choose an area with plenty of sunlight and good drainage. The plant should be planted in the spring or autumn, if planting multiple plants, they should be spaced 20cm apart. It’s also important to prepare the soil ahead of time by adding a layer of compost to help promote drainage and provide additional nutrients for the plant. Once planted, they should be watered regularly and mulched with an organic material.
