Daffodil & Narcissus Naturalising Mixture 25kg – this daffodil bulb mixture will offer you a longer flowering time as it includes both early and late daffodils. Usually, the pure yellows will come out first. They are 40-50cm tall and flower between March and April.
Narcissus are commonly known as daffodils although we tend to use daffodil more to describe the larger types. Narcissus are divided up into 13 groups and our mixed narcissi are a selection from groups 1-4. For example; division 1 is trumpet daffodil, division 2 is large cup, division 3 small cup and division 4 is double. So, within a bag of mixed narcissus for naturalising you will get a selection of yellows, whites, pinks and a variety of cup shapes. You might be interested in our mixed trumpet selection which is a selection of daffodils from division 1 and 2 only. Per 25Kg bag you should get 450-500 bulbs.
By naturalising, we mean that they will flower perennially and over time spread naturally if left undisturbed.
The foliage on daffodils is long and narrow, ranging from bright green to silver. It is important to let the foliage die back fully so the bulbs can regenerate for the next flowering season. This can be quite a long time and quite unsightly but don’t be tempted to mow them down or tie them up.
How To Plant Daffodil bulbs
Plant your Daffodil & Narcissus Naturalising Mixture 25kg between September and December. Daffodils can lose quite a bit of weight whilst out of the ground. Bulbs are made up of a starchy watery substance and the longer they are out of the ground the more moisture they lose. As long as they are dry and have good air-flow they will be ok to keep into late autumn. Their roots develop very quickly once they are in the ground.
Plant 10-15 cm deep and around 10cm apart. You can plant closer to form clumps or you can spread them out further to cover more ground. Daffodils will be happy in all soil types and either sunny or semi shady positions.
For over 60 years Lincolnshire has been an important growing region and Gee Tee Bulb Company has long been in the thick of it. Many of the farmers we buy from we have known for decades. All of our narcissi bulbs from divisions 1-4 come from the fields around our warehouse in Lincolnshire. If you happen to be driving on the A17 in March you’ll see the daffodil fields stretch for miles. And if you are in the Spalding area it is a good idea to visit Springfield Gardens to see the national collection of Daffodils. There are many old and wonderful varieties that are not commercially grown.
We have a range of pack sizes from 15 per bag to 25kg bags. If you need a large volume of daffodil bulbs, as a bulk or trade order, call us for a quote on 01205 260412.
