More Information
Narcissus Golden Anniversary 25kg – between 450 and 500 daffodil bulbs in one bag. Perhaps the most effective way to bulk buy a large amount of bulbs for a great price. This sack of pure yellow trumpet narcissus will plant an area up to 8 metres square. We recommend planting 60-70 large narcissus bulbs per square metre but you can stretch them out further. Daffodils are great naturalising bulbs which mean that they will for clumps via bulb division or spread by seed over a number of years.
Narcissus Golden Anniversary 25kg are a strong yellow trumpet narcissus, commonly known as daffodils. The trumpet is slightly darker. This is a division 1 type narcissus which means the trumpet is longer than the petals and is all yellow. It is perhaps the most iconic form of the flower seen on road sides, woodlands and gardens. The bright yellow is a welcome sight before the green of the trees begins to emerge in spring.
All of our division 1 and 2 narcissus are grown in the UK from the fields of Lincolnshire where our warehouse is based. There has been a long tradition of growing bulbs in the area known as ‘South Holland’ and we have known many of the families involved in growing and harvesting the bulbs since we started in 1961.
How to grow
Plant in semi shade or full sun during autumn. This can be between September right up to December. They will be happy in all soil types. They are fully hardy and don’t need a lot of care once they are in the ground. It is always best for bulbs not to sit in excessively wet soil. So it is recommended that you add some drainage or grit to allow water to drain away. They will be happy in pots too.
Plant around 10-15cm deep. For large quantities like this we recommend dividing the sack into manageable quantities and digging a trench to plant the bulbs. You can watch a video here of us planting some mixed daffodils in some woodland.
