More Information

Narcissus Pipe Major has oval, pale yellow petals which are clean and uncomplicated. The cup is a strong orange that intensifies as it reaches the frilled edge. A tall daffodil at around 40cm high. Narcissus Pipe Major is a dainty but vibrant daffodil which blooms in late April. Taking its name from the leader of a pipe band, it is a bold and confident daffodil.

These daffodil bulbs are grown locally in Lincolnshire from families we have know for decades. Around our warehouse in spring the fields are a wash of yellows and whites. It’s an incredible site. Many of the fields feed the cut flower industry. This is why daffodils are so much cheaper than imported flowers from the supermarket.

Plant these narcissus bulbs any time between September and December for a spring display. They are a hardy bulb and need the cold weather to activate flowering in spring. The bulbs will generate new bulbs each year and over time spread by seed. You can stop them spreading by removing the seed pods. This will give you healthy bulbs for the next season. Just remember to leave the foliage to die back. Don’t cut it down until it has turned completely yellow.
