More Information

Evoking the authority of Cardinal Richelieu, Tulip Couleur Cardinal is very noble tulip. The rich crimson and red colouring has a powerful presence in the garden. As a single early bulb it is only 35cm tall on a strong green stem. Tulip Couleur Cardinal flowers in late March. At this time of year a short tulip wont get lost in your garden before summer perennials start to emerge. However to make the most of them plant at the front of borders or in pots.

How to plant tulip bulbs

Tulip bulbs like a well drained soil. Do not over water them in winter and keep them moist during the growing season once the foliage starts to emerge. When planting in pots we use a mixture of garden soil, grit and loam. Tulip bulbs are often cultivated in very sandy soil. Plant the tulip bulbs in full sun or a slightly shaded position at approximately 10cm deep. You can plant up to 60-70 tulip bulbs per square metre.
