    More Information

Tulip Exotic Emperor is a tremendous tulip. If you love white tulips, then this tulip bulb will be the first of the season to start off your garden. A double form of the early flowering Purissima, producing a wide cup filled with ivory and bright white flowers. 4 curious spiked green petals run on the outside of the flower creating a crown like appearance. Flowering at 40cm tall in April Tulip Exotic Emperor is breathtaking in the cool spring sun.

It is often recommended that you lift tulips because they will not perform well the next year, you can see why here. However Exotic Emperor is quite reliable at flowering for a few years at a time. We can’t recommend this tulip enough!

Plant in semi shade or full sun in any type of soil. Tulips prefer a well draining soil that doesn’t dry out and allows excess water to drain away. Tulip roots are thin and fibrous, and they can stretch a long way but they don’t like sitting in water. You shouldn’t need to water them over winter but they do need water once they start growing in spring. Often pots can dry out quickly, and this can effect the bud in the centre of the bulb, even before it has emerged.
