More Information
Tulip Gavota – is a very regal triumph tulip flower. A slightly reflexed cup shape, in rich burgundy, topped with golden yellow edging. Tulip Gavota is a French style of dancing, which should help with the pronunciation. Gav-otter or Gav-oh-ta is how we tend to say it in the warehouse, but although we might not have the right accent, there is no mistaking this wonderful tulip. The unique colouring makes it easy to identify. There are a few variations that are worth a try, Tulip Slawa or Tulip Synaeda Blue as an alternative.
How to plant tulip bulbs
Plant your tulip bulbs in well drained soil. They will grow in most soils if you add a little grit to help drainage. During long wet periods in winter you can cover them over to avoid the bulbs getting soaked. Keep the bulbs well watered during the growing season.
Tulip bulbs can be planted in full sun or a slightly shaded position. Plant the bulbs at approximately 10cm deep. A pack of 25 bulbs would easily fill 2 very large pots or run the length of a mid-size border. Have a look at our growing advice on tulip bulbs.
