    Tulip Helmar – is a yellow and red Rembrandt type tulip. Rembrandt tulips are flamed tulips following the tradition of the early Dutch tulips from the 16th and 17th century. Often the subject of the symbolist still life paintings of the time. They are a very noble group of tulip bulbs and don’t disappoint when planted in your garden. A mid to late season flower appearing in late April on a tall stem. Tulip Helmar is a strong canary yellow with a pronounced red flame that branches off to the edge of the petal. The flower head has more of a triumph tulip shape. These are very enjoyable tulips and a welcome arrival in spring.

    How to plant

    Tulip bulbs like a well-drained soil that holds moisture. Use a blend of peat free compost, grit, loam or garden soil. Do not over water them in winter and keep them moist during the growing season once the leaves start to show. Tulip bulbs are often cultivated in very sandy soil.

    Plant the tulip bulbs in sunny or a slightly shaded position, approximately 10cm deep. You can plant up to 60-70 tulip bulbs per square metre.
