    More Information

Tulip Purple Doll – is a viridiflora tulip. This group of tulips are categorised by the green stripe emanating from the base of the flower head. They are a late flowering tulip bulb and mix well with other late season tulips. Try with such bulbs as fringed or single late tulips. Tulip Purple Doll is a magenta colour, which intensifies as it moves towards the green stripes in the centre of each petal. The petals themselves are elongated and twisted to give a wonderful delicate appearance. Much like a cyclamen. They grow to 40cm tall.

    How to grow

Tulip bulbs are tolerant of all soil types and both sunny and semi shaded positions. They prefer a well draining soil so they don’t sit in water when it gets very wet. This can damage the roots. If the soil dries out it can effect the growth of the flower. However, don’t water too much over winter. There will be enough moisture in the soil to produce roots. Once the weather starts to warm up, water more regularly.

Once the flower has finished, remove the heads and seed pod. This will allow more energy into the new bulbs. Lift the bulbs in summer and store the bigger bulbs for replanting in autumn. Store in a cool dry place with plenty of air flow.
